Having tired of ProTool-tomfoolery, endlessly pushing splinters around a screen, and inspired by a scorching reunion tour with his old band straitjacket fits, Shayne recruited a totally new line up for "There My Dear" and returned to basics. The album is twin guitar affair, tracked mostly live in a week and a half in the community hall surrounds of the Grey Lynn bowling club. The sound of a band. Playing songs.

The other players are - Dino Karlis (drums), James Duncan (guitar) and Justyn Pilbrow (bass).

Dino is the drummer for “HDU” and one half of the electron icy outfit, signer. James released his own goofball debut ep on round trip mars last year and is also one half of the upcoming Auckland combo punches. He moonlights as guitarist in “SJD” as well. Justyn is best known as guitarist in Elemenop but Shayne saw him on TV once playing bass in “The Relaxomatic Project” and thought, "hey, that guys a good bass player!"

As you can hear - the band played their respective asses off all through this record.

The album was recorded by, long time dimmer project man, Nick Roughan.
All manner of guests contribute - ranging from Bic Runga and Anika Moa on backing vocals, various members of the brunettes, art rock supremo, Dean Roberts - even Don McGlashan pops up with his trusty euphonium.

But mostly "There My Dear" is the sound of a four piece band. Playing songs. In a room. Together. That's about all you need to know.
