In this seven half hour series Richard Till tours New Zealand looking at iconic New Zealand food which has stood the test of time. He finds local characters who cook food while he takes a look at the origin of the dish and explores why it has become a part of New Zealand's cultural identity.

From muttonbird on Stewart Island, to a Central Otago high country roast, to Bomb Alaska created by a TV Chef from days gone by, Richard seeks out both the expert and the amateur and discovers dishes which have refused to die.

From his own kitchen Richard recreates versions of the food we have seen, using his own style and flair to provide a three course meal which caters to our contemporary lifestyles. In an irreverent manner he entertains, talking about where this food has come from and why we remember it so fondly.
