Two weeks after Henry Strongin Goldberg was born, he was diagnosed with Fanconi anemia. The disease threatened to take his life and challenged his parents, Laurie and Allen, to do everything possible to avoid the dire prognosis. When they heard about a new procedure called PGD, they signed up immediately. PGD uses in-vitro fertilization and genetic testing to produce a new baby who would be both healthy and a lifesaver for Henry.
