An 8-piece reggae band out of the hills surrounding the Whangaroa Harbour & nearby town of Kerikeri, Northland, 1814’s debut album Jah Rydem captures the band’s reggae sound which is laced with upbeat, funky, R&B & roots, with plenty of energetic, skanking grooves loaded with wicked sax & sweet, soulful vocals.
The name is taken from the year the Gospel arrived at Oihi, in the Bay of Islands – an inspiration for 1814, who deliver a message of peace, love & unity to all people.
