Girls may just wanna have fun, but everybody gets the blues sometimes. Pop icon, Cyndi Lauper, attests to this on an all-new album of blues cover songs, with appearances by legendary artists including B.B. King, Jonny Lang, Allen Toussaint, Ann Peebles and Charlie Musselwhite.
Memphis Blues was recorded in March at Electraphonic Studios in Memphis, Tennessee and is released on Mercer Street recordings – home of Ozomatli and Brett Dennen.
Produced by Scott Bomar and mixed by longtime collaborator William Wittman, Memphis Blues is gritty and full of life. As well as appearances from King, Lang and Toussaint, Memphis Blues session players include Stax veterans Lester Snell and Skip Pitts, and Hi Rhythm Section alums Leroy Hodges and Howard Grimes, studio careerists who cut their teeth recording with the likes of Isaac Hayes and Al Green.
