While I’m Awake I’m At War is the brand new self-released album from one of NZ’s finest, Flip Grater.
Described as having traces of PJ Harvey, a sprinkling of Cat Power & a touch of Suzanne Vega, Flip Grater’s music has established her as one of our country’s beloved indie-folk artists.
While I’m Awake I’m At War is produced by Tim Guy & recorded at The Lab in Mt Eden, Auckland.
The album features a stellar line-up of local musicians, including Geoff Maddock (Goldenhorse, Anika Moa), Gareth Thomas (Goodshirt, Gareth Thomas Band), Matt Short (The Feelers), Dianne Swann (The Bads), Chris O’Connor (Don McGlashan, Mamaku Project) & L.A. Mitchell (The Dukes).
Flip has released an EP, two critically acclaimed albums – Cage For A Song (2006) and Be All & End All (2008) – a published book & has a tour history that has seen her meandering through 11 or so countries.
Flip recently decided to move from Christchurch to Auckland to record & release While I’m Awake I’m At War, that is released on her own label, Maiden Records.
