In the opening of All About Eve, Eve (Anne Baxter) is a young actress who wins an award, which displeases but several people attending the ceremony. The film takes us back in time to see how Eve became successful and why so many have hard feelings toward her. Margo Channing (Bette Davis) is a legendary Broadway actress. Her best friend meets Eve, who claims to be Margo's biggest fan, and takes the young woman to meet Margo in her dressing room. Margo is accommodating and Eve is eager to be helpful, so the young woman quickly becomes Margo's devoted personal secretary. Eve seems too good to be true until she starts ingratiating herself to all of the important people in Margo's life. Margo begins to feel jealous, then paranoid, but how can she suspect such a nice girl of doing anything malicious? She soon finds out that sometimes what feels like paranoia actually has basis in truth!
